1064nm Raman Analyzer Questions Answered

A 1064nm Raman analyzer is a handheld spectroscopy instrument that uses a 1064nm laser to generate molecular fingerprints for identifying unknown materials. The longer excitation wavelength can reduce fluorescence interference compared with shorter-wavelength Raman systems.

They are three Rigaku CQL handheld 1064nm Raman analyzers designed for different chemical-analysis requirements. Max-ID provides the broadest chemical-threat library, Gen-ID targets general chemical threats, while Narc-ID focuses specifically on narcotics, precursor chemicals and cutting agents.

Yes. CQL analyzers can nondestructively analyse many solids, liquids, powders, pastes and gels through suitable translucent packaging, helping reduce direct contact with potentially hazardous substances.

Depending on the CQL model and library, applications include narcotics, explosives, explosive precursors, chemical warfare agents, CWA precursors, toxic industrial chemicals, household chemicals, pharmaceuticals, polymers, solvents and other chemical threats.

Yes. The CQL platforms are handheld, approximately 1.7kg, rated IP68 and MIL-STD-810G, and provide more than five hours of battery operation with the standard battery on the Max-ID, Gen-ID and Narc-ID models.

The CQL Max-ID and Gen-ID feature automatic mixture analysis, with Rigaku specifying analysis of up to five components. Optional QuickDetect capabilities are also available for selected narcotics and explosives applications.

The CQL Series is intended for field and presumptive chemical analysis. Results should be interpreted according to the instrument’s intended application, operating procedures and applicable agency protocols; confirmatory laboratory methods may be required where regulations or evidentiary requirements demand them. Rigaku notes, for example, that Raman is recognized by SWGDRUG as a Category A technique for seized-drug analysis, with additional analysis requirements in that framework.
